Karel Geraerts appointed as new coach of FC Schalke 04

Gelsenkirchen – Karel Geraerts has been announced as the new coach of FC Schalke 04. The club allegedly had interest in former world stars Raúl, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Andriy Shevchenko as well. However, Raúl, who currently coaches the second team of Real Madrid, declined the offer. Van Nistelrooy and Shevchenko, who are both free agents, were also on the club’s list.

Geraerts impressed the officials of FC Schalke 04 in their first meeting and was referred to as the “perfect solution”. The coach’s task will be to lead the club out of the relegation zone in the 2nd Bundesliga. After nine matchdays, Schalke 04 currently sits in 16th place with only seven points.

Geraerts’ first match as coach will take place on October 22nd against Karlsruher SC.
