Three days with a car revealed its character in more ways than one.
The first time I published this generation of Ferrari engines, it was on a chosen route through the company's territory.As Valley Po pays you, you find many narrow roads, winding, steep slopes and hairpin bends.As fun as a few hours of driving, but very brief to assess some of the technology 296. I found a comfortable but comfortable ride through the Italian tarmac and the system is easy to drive Hybrid, only quiet, quiet electric mode that is quiet through the village that I experienced.
If in 2022 the unveiling of a racing car was the Ferrari 499P.Last month I met the 499P again at Circuit of the Americas in Austin with the rest of the World Endurance Championship.
Head west from Austin and you'll find winding roads around the hills.It would have been easy to spend a whole day there, but it felt like repetition - I've already experienced the 296's backroads behavior.Plus, there was a lot to do at the racetrack, although I'll admit I took the long way there and back each day.
Driving the tusken OFF
Ferrari's eDrive mode is perfectly suited to blending into downtown traffic (among the dozens of all-white Waymo Jaguars and shiny self-driving Toyota Zoox).It uses an axial-flow electric motor that sits between the 2.9L V6 engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, but uses the motor's 165 hp (123 kW) in the form of a screw, and more importantly, its 232 lb-ft (315 Nm) of power is all you need to move the 123 kW.(1,500 kg) at city speeds.Forward visibility is good, if not adequate, and the throttle mapping makes it easy to measure as much acceleration as you need.
Outside the confines of the city center, you want the V6's 654 ps (488 kw) contribution.There are three modes to choose from.The hybrid will cut the V6 when the lithium-ion traction battery is charged and the car's brain to save some fuel, and the v6 when needed.When the battery near 7.4 kWh is removed, switching to performance mode is a solution.This fires the combustion engine and uses the reserve power to continue opening the package.It also sounds louder.
